Hello everyone! How many of you are going through the terrible 'annual exam' season? I surely am. A week from now, I will be sitting in an exam hall, shaking my head at polynomials. Algebra can really exhaust you!
So I am going to liven things up with some pretty exciting news! The Blue Bell Review is collaborating with Phosphorescent Lit, a US-based magazine that also features youth (along with adults), for an Ekphrastic Challenge!! Submit a story or poem in response to the painting given, which was created by Aastha Pai, which is appearing in the flagship issue of The Blue Bell Review. This is a wonderful opportunity for you all to be published in two global platforms!
The deadline is the 21st of February.
As always, our general submissions are open for art, writing and multi-media. The editorial board is excited to review your submissions and feature the best ones in our flagship issue.
In other news, I am thrilled to say that Havish (art editor) and I (Elaine) will be conducting a live art workshop with students in Hampi, India. There will also be an art contest for these students. More news on that next week!

This week's prompt is in relation to our Ekphrastic Contest. If you want some practice, then this is a good way to start.
Take a famous painting or photograph, research a little about its background, and respond to it in two ways. First, write/draw a piece about what you like about it, using the aspects you liked about it. Then, write/draw something that criticises it.
